Say it isn't so! Asher is 7 months old!!!

Yes, you read that right…  Asher up and turned another month older.  This has been busy this last month for him, and the rest of us.  Since turning 6 months old we have entered the world of solid food, and this kid LOVES them.  I'm not sure if it was because we waited two more months or what, but he eats them way better than Max did starting out and at the same age/stage.  I mean he eats whole bowls full of oatmeal and banana, loves some sweet potato, and avocado and peas are not so bad.  I still love the faces he makes when I put the first bite of something new in his mouth.  He is so funny.  He will also wear bibs unlike his big bro.

Asher can also sit up on his own without the tripod hand down for support.  This means he can sit and play with toys which seems to please both him and Max.  He still prefers to be held, but he is getting slightly better being put down.  He also has cut his first two teeth on bottom with a third right behind them.  He hasn't been any fussier because of it, but we still give him the occasional dose of Tylenol at bedtime to help with the pain.  He does chew on EVERYTHING!!! But this actually helped us in getting him drinking out of a cup with a straw.  Go figure, he REFUSES a bottle, but took to sippy cups and drinking from straws like a natural.  He loves to have a little water when he eats and will drink breast milk from the cup.  These developments have given me a little more freedom and will definitely help as we plan to have Asher in a Mother's Day Out program in the fall so I can spend a little more time at Baylor.

And finally, Asher is mobile!!! It's not quite crawling, but he can use his arms to pull himself around on the floor.  I was completely unprepared for this.  Max didn't crawl (and never pulled himself like this) until he was 9 months old or so. And Asher has been doing this for a week or so!  Our pediatrician warmed me at his 6 month appointment that Asher was hitting his milestones early and she wouldn't be surprised if he continued to do so, and I guess she is right.  Whats next??? Walking and talking?  Please, someone freeze my sweet baby right where he is now!

One of Max's old friends is meeting Asher for the first time.  I remember buying the penguin for Max to encourage him to sit up on his own… Asher didn't need the encouragement, but loves the toy.

6 Month Update!

So Asher, despite my wishes and best effort, went ahead and turned 6 months old last week.  We took him in for his wellness check and were surprised to find out that he is not gaining weight as fast as he did at 4 months… he's not  losing weight, but has dropped from the 76% to the 50%.  We were assured that this is normal since he is becoming much more active and burning off those calories.  But comparing Max and Asher at this point, they are the EXACT same length, but Max weighed 4 lbs more.  But we have started solids (as you will see) so hopefully we can get some of those calories back.  Asher is happy for the most part, but we are having difficulty getting him to sleep longer than 2 hours at a time at night.  At 4 months he started waking up more frequently to nurse, which is normal, but it has not let up!  He wakes up to nurse 6-7 times per night.  It makes for long nights for us and tedious days for mommy.  We had a couple of really bad nights last week as Asher ran a slight fever from his vaccinations.  Not really high, but enough to make him uncomfortable and fussy.  I am hopeful that the addition of solids before bed will help fill him up a little better and help get us some additional sleep.

 Last day of Montessori.  They had a water slide and then sat down for one last story together.

 They were told to hug their friends good-bye.  Max went straight for Eli the one kid we see almost daily!

 We are going to miss WAMS.  Miss Marie and Miss Emily were so good with Max and all of the kiddos.  Max will be starting at Waco Montessori in the fall.

 This is where Asher prefers to sleep… ALL NIGHT.  We put him in the crib as often as we can, but with him waking so often to feed this is the only way I get any sleep too.

 First oatmeal.  I remembered a few things when we started solids with Asher.  Like why we bathed Max every night and why I would bring 3 or 4 spoons to each feeding.

This is a random assortment of pictures that I've taken over the last few weeks.  This is the first time I have had to sit down and sort them out into various folders.  I have THREE folders to keep track of now, blog photos, pictures for Max's book and pictures for Asher's book.  Ugh!  Anyway here is the contents of the blog folder.
