We had a busy week from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday… busy but good. My friend Judy invited us to her house after church on Palm Sunday for lunch and an egg hunt with other families from our church. Her house and land we so beautiful and made for some great pictures. I dressed the boys up knowing there would be pictures involved. Max, who is incredibly picky about his clothes, didn't want a shirt with buttons. I explained that Grandma had picked that shirt out just for him and that she would be happy to see him wearing it. After that, the shirt was a-ok. Grandma also bought Asher's shirt, but thankfully he's much easier to dress right now. :)
Asher exploring the yard. Love those sweet cheeks.
Oh, he found an egg! Now what?
Max, however, has had a few years of practice at this. He knows just what to do with them.
Asher was satisfied with just picking through Max's eggs.
I LOVE this picture, and it was by chance I was able to capture it. I know if I tried to pose this it would have been a disaster.
We all had a great day.
So these are not Easter related per say. They were taken the afternoon of Good Friday. We were stuck at home while a plumber fixed our slab leak. I would have liked to have taken a little day trip, but it was a pretty good day at home. Sometimes those are the best.
The sandbox is a huge hit with Asher, and it has renewed Max's interest in playing in it as well.
Whoops! Hold on there!
And he sticks the landing!
Sweet brothers and best friends, for now. ;)
On Saturday, I made the last minute decision to color some eggs with the boys. We bought all the supplies at the farmer's market and I made the dye out of natural ingredients. It was lucky that we bought a dozen eggs with a few green ones included… I couldn't think of a way to make green.
The red/pink was easy enough, beets!
And a wire wisk made the perfect dipper. Thank you Pinterest!
The purple/blue were frozen blueberries. I also had golden beets which made yellow, and I combined the two colors of beets for orange. They probably would have worked if you left an egg in there for a few hours, but Max was not so inclined to do that.
We had most of them done by the time Asher woke up from his nap, but we saved a couple for him. First we colored them with crayons.
Then he dipped them.
This kid loves anything messy and remotely liquid, so this was a major hit with him.
A hit up until you take it away from him. Sad! Don't worry, we gave him back the wisk (minus the egg) and let him mix up a bowl of water.
All finished, and not too messy. I consider that a win-win.
We followed Max and daddy to the creek later. Its really hard work keeping him out of it.
Happy Easter!
Hunting more eggs at the Blevins' house.
It was kind of chilly that day, so I actually put Asher's fleecy jacket on him.
He had a little better idea of what he was supposed to do this time and picked up three or four eggs. He still had more fun digging through everyone else's baskets though.
